During Mexico’s Golden Age of Cinema in the 1940’s and early 50’s hundreds of films were made in Mexico and distributed through out the US and Latin America. The success of those films was undeniable and produced such memorable characters as Cantinflas, Jorge Negrete, Tin Tan and Maria Felix. When the era finally ended there was no longer a source of high quality entertaining films for the masses. But the demand was still there.

Panamax Films was founded in Spring of 2005 by James McNamara to fill that void. Panamax has an output deal with Lion’s Gate Films to produce films for the US Latino and Greater Latin American film going audiences. Panamax focuses on high quality entertaining films in both Spanish and English to reach this underserved market.
